I live in a small village in rural Northumberland, for the past 10years my work has been part of a continuing investigation into my relationship with this environment. There are two main strands to my practice, one is studio based and one is work made in response to place. Key areas of interest in my practice are an investigation into the act of looking, the process of re-interpretation and the organisation of information.
Triparks offered me the opportunity to examine one area out of the 14 (soon to be 15) areas of the UK that are designated National Park status. The concept of managing national heritage was a focal point for me during this project. Due to its size Northumberland National Park is managed in two areas. Separate outings into the park with each of the area managers contributed greatly to the resulting work.
